Context

Robinhood offers customers up to a 3% IRA match when they open a retirement account and subscribe to Robinhood Gold. To ensure clarity, there are four specific points in the user journey where this benefit must be communicated:

A central challenge of the project was harmonizing Robinhood Gold’s visual identity with the established Retirement design system. In partnership with product designers and PMs, we pinpointed the exact user moments that required Gold benefit communication and enrollment prompts. To avoid brand interference, we introduced a controlled visual system consisting of a hero illustration with refined gold accents, a gold label, and a selective gold shimmer applied only at high-value moments in the flow.

Entry point card

Users enrolled in Robinhood Gold without an IRA account see a card on the homescreen with information about the offer. Tapping on the card takes them to the Retirement tab where they are presented animated value propositions and a button to begin the enrolling flow.

Robinhood Gold label

Users enrolled in Robinhood Gold with an IRA account see a gold label which reminds them of the 3% match available when contributing to their account.

Bottom sheet

Users enrolled in Robinhood Gold with an unfunded IRA account see a bottom sheet with a prompt to add funds to their accounts.

Onboarding flow

Users enrolled in Robinhood Gold without an IRA account see a card on the homescreen with information about the offer. Tapping on the card takes them to the Retirement tab where they are presented animated value propositions and a button to begin the enrolling flow.
